The silo is accessed via a sloping concrete ramp leading to a massive 16-inch-thick metal door measuring 15 feet wide and 17 feet tall. This formidable entrance allows trucks or combines to quickly enter or exit the main bunker, known as the “coffin,” which extends nearly 24 feet below ground. Apart from the ramp, the silo is almost entirely underground, with only the large iron lid covering the coffin visible above the surface. A nearby smaller door, also made of heavy steel, served as the entry for the site’s crew members.
